Stephen F. Austin was born in Novato, CA in May 1963 and raised in Petaluma CA where he graduated from Casa Grande high school in 1981. Not ready for college at the time and a bit impatient, Steve originally planned to move to Hollywood immediately after high school, he realized that without a PLAN, it might not be the smartest move so he enlisted in the United States Air Force and began a 22yr "detour", but never gave up on his goal of becoming a professional actor. Everywhere he was stationed with the Air Force, Steve sought out the nearest theater group and slowly built his resume. In 1988 at Maxwell AFB AL, Steve discovered he had a knack for announcing and being a master of ceremonies for military retirements and other events and soon developed a keen skill with his voice, receiving high praise for his ability to make sterile-sounding citations for medals more like a story. In 1992 while stationed in Colorado, a military contractor heard him announce at a ceremony and approached him about doing voice work for a training video he was producing and that he would be paid for it. That was followed by years of other paid jobs for satellite training and other defense contractor-related videos. In 1993, Steve was signed by his first agency (who closed a few short years afterwards) and began building his resume for commercial work. His body of voiceover work spanned from regular television and radio commercials to classified military videos for the Pentagon and everything in between. He retired from the Air Force in 2003 at his final Air Force assignment, the United States Air Force Academy, in Colorado Springs, CO. In July 2003, he began work as a Training Analyst for a defense contractor at HQ NORAD-USNORTHERN Command at Peterson AFB, CO. Steve then met and signed with his next agent, Peter DeAnello, owner of Big Fish Talent in Denver CO in 2006 and began working on his "side career" as an actor and voice talent in Denver CO. It was during this time that he met his first on-camera acting coach and acting mentor, Paul Neal Rohrer. Steve studied with Paul from 2007 to 2015. In 2013 after 10 years of trying to balance both careers, he was burned out and needed to make a change. He developed a plan to quit the "day job" and go full time as an actor, voice talent and on-camera acting coach going into a partnership with Paul Neal Rohrer, opening a franchise of the Rohrering Success Actor Workshops in Colorado Springs, CO. His final day at NORAD-USNORTHERN Command was May 31, 2013 and by January 2014 had his first students enrolled. Steve is married to his incredibly supportive wife of more than 33yrs, Dana (Gielen) Austin and they have two adult children, Mark and Laura. Show less «
