Stef Tovar is a native of Chicago, Illinois. His breakout on screen role was Dr. Arrington in Contagion, directed by Steven Soderbergh-where he treats Patient Zero (Gwyneth Paltrow) and must tell her husband (Matt Damon) of her death. An award-winning stage actor, Stef spent six years in Los Angeles and, after moving back to the Midwest in 2006, founded Route 66 Theatre Company to keep his ties to West Coast. In its inaugural production of On an Average Day, Stef played the role of Jack in sold-runs both Los Angeles and Chicago. He remains the company's Artistic Director and was most recently seen as Nolan in No Wake in both Chicago and Los Angeles. Stef created the role of Noah in the Route 66 world premiere of A Twist of Water, which had a sold-out run in Chicago before transferring Off-Broadway to 59E59 Theaters in New York in 2012. On television, Stef was seen as Daniel Schwartz the premiere season of Chicago Fire, Gary on Boss and on Sirens as "Cubs Doctor". Other Film credits include Kenny in Employee of the Month directed by Mitch Rouse-with Matt Dillon, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004; Dan in the award-winning The Gymnast and the upcoming Olympia and Bunker Hill-with Fred Willard. Stef is the proud father of Sam.
