Starr Ridley AKA Black Mermaid was born the last of seven children. She was first published at the age of 8 and has since penned and published 2 books, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow: A Quest for Love" and "22 Thangs Men and Women Should Aught Not Do in Relationships!"She alternatively works as an audio book narrator and initially narrated her own manuscript, "22 Thangs". Since then, she has narrated six subsequent books for various authors. Starr has a rich and diverse background in theater and performing arts and embarked upon voice over acting after having been a Statistical Analyst for over 13 years as a way to re-enter the entertainment industry. Non professionally she has portrayed roles such as: Yente the Matchmaker, Lucy Van Pelt and Lorraine Hansberry.Recently, she portrayed Rose in a one-time online reading of "Dancing at Lughnasa" directed by Stephanie Barton-Farcas who is also her personal voice coach.Some of her favorite vocal accents include: West African, American Southern, British and Cockney. She has trained with Andy Roth, Barry Shapiro, Jeffrey Dreisbach and Jimmy Carr. She is a conversational French speaker and holds a BA in Social Science International Studies from Michigan State University and a MS in City and Regional Planning from Morgan State University.Starr enjoys most anything requiring creativity and adventure.
