Television and film actor Solly Assa was born in Dothan, Alabama. He discovered his passion for art, acting in particular, at an early age, but he never believed or even imagined just how far this dream would take him. Before he turned nine his father died in a car accident, and since he was the only child, his mother had a huge influence on his life. As an aspiring actor, he spent most of his teenage years learning more about the craft of acting. Around that time he took his first steps on the theater stage and joined the local theater group. After finishing high school he decided to follow his acting ambition and enrolled at the College of Liberal Arts, at Auburn University. He graduated with a degree in theater art.Even though he felt sad for leaving his mother and moving to another state, still Solly Assa made the decision and left his native Alabama. Determined to build a career as an actor, his next stop was Los Angeles. In the first two years, he didn't have much luck with acting, but he managed to get a job as an assistant to a casting director. In 1996 he finally got his big break, after the casting director encouraged him to audition for a role in the movie "Future War (1997)". This move was a film adaptation of a popular novel and did well at the box office. But even more importantly, this role helped him start off his career, and opened the door to a world of opportunities.Because he never wanted to be one of those famous typecast actors, he made sure to try his hand with different genres, characters, and eventually make a move in a television series.
