Silvia Busuioc was born in Chisinau, Moldova. Her passion for the arts was first stirred at the early age of seven, when she began to study dance. For the following ten years she danced on theater and TV stages in various styles, ranging from ballroom, to modern, to hip-hop. In 2006 Silvia worked as a radio host at Radio Moldova, hosting a variety of youth radio programs. She first began to explore acting when she took part in a national short film competition. Silvia was chosen, alongside a selection of students from all over the country, to write, direct and star in a short film. Her debut work "A doua Sansa" (Second Chance), won first place. As Silvia moved to Italy, her acting career continued to flourish. She performed in numerous theater productions and toured across Europe with the national theater company Rain Italy. Furthermore, Silvia expanded into TV, acting in various TV procedurals on Italy's RAI, Channel 5, Sky and others, as well as hosting a number of national comedy and music shows. In 2012 Silvia graduated from the University of Milan, with a degree in arts. Later in 2012, she was approved, by none other than Academy Award winner Martin Landau, to be guest at The Actors Studio West in Hollywood. Upon working with countless of the illustrious actors of the legendary theater school, Silvia's acting career became her primary focus. Her training, as well as her multicultural background and fluency in 5(!) languages, have helped her shape many unique and unforgettable characters for film and television. In 2013, she was cast as one of the leads in the top-rated RAI 1 TV-series "FUORICLASSE", directed by Riccardo Donna. Silvia was a perfect match for the character, who was fluent in Russian, Italian, English and German. The show averaged an astounding 6 million viewers per episode. Several other roles were to follow: In the TV mini-series "GOTTHARD", directed by Urs Egger - Switzerland's biggest budget TV production ever - Silvia plays the challenging role of Leo, a girl who pretends to be a boy, so she can work as a laborer during the construction of Gotthard Tunnel. Under great critical acclaim and success, "GOTTHARD" premiered at the Locarno Film Festival 2016. Next was the role of Iulia, the lead character in the feature film "SELFIE 69", directed by Cristina Iacob. The Romanian romantic comedy and winner of several awards, was a huge box office success and quickly became the most watched Romanian film of the last twenty-six years. Silvia debuted on US television as a guest star on FOX's "LETHAL WEAPON" and is currently portraying the role of "Nadia" in the 6th season of HBO's Emmy Award winning show "VEEP". Silvia continues to work both in the US and overseas and can soon be seen in the feature "THE SNOWMAN", directed by Tomas Alfredson and starring Michael Fassbender, J.K. Simmons and Rebecca Ferguson, as well as in "Il RAGAZZO INVISIBILE - FRATELLI", directed by Academy Award winning director Gabriele Salvatores. Both films will be released later this year. Silvia is currently prepping for her next project: the lead role of Giulietta, in a historical three-part mini-series for Bavaria Films, scheduled to shoot in Europe summer 2017.
