Shelby was born in Torrance, California to parents Anthony and Robin. She has 2 brothers and is the middle child. Her family moved from California to Aurora, Colorado in 1994 to be closer to family and they spent the next 15 years living in a beautiful, quiet suburb of Denver. She went to Arrowhead Elementary school, where during a Kindergarten performance she discovered her love of performing. After that she spent her entire educational career in theater clubs, scoring a leading role as Olivia in a middle school play version of The Twelfth night. In high school she joined drama and became a Thespian, involving herself in as many school plays as possible, mostly staying out of the spotlight as stage manager. After high school her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Shelby got a job as a hostess at a local restaurant, vowing to save up money to move back to LA to follow her dream of becoming an actress. When she was 21 years old, Shelby became pregnant with her son, ultimately putting a halt to her dreams of becoming an actress. She became a stay at home from from the ages of 22 to 23 until she became a single mom, getting a part time job to help support herself and her son. She moved back into her parents house and worked full time while sharing joint custody of her son. During her down time she looked on craigslist and found a local amature acting group that was starting up, so she went and auditioned to get in and did in fact end up joining. Through the group that met up at least once a week, she got to perform a little, got her very first head shot done, learned quite a bit about the craft and how Hollywood works, but most importantly made connections with other members of the group and made friends.Through the group she heard about a great new project that was set to start auditions, so her and a couple friends attended the mixer that launched the auditions. This was her first attempt at getting into the acting scene and was so excited to potentially be a part of such a huge, local project. Later that week she attended the auditions for the table read, and this being her very first real audition for anything was extremely nervous, but also excited. She did very well and felt very confidant that once the real auditions started she might have a shot. She got to mingle with the locals in the Las Vegas Film scene and met a lot of great people. Unfortunately the project fell through, so Shelby just went back to work, still looking for local auditions to gain some experience. She went and auditioned at the Indie Film Factory, thanks to a message from a friend she made through her acting group, for a small roll in a new Cyberpunk series, and that being her first real audition in front of a camera and casting people was shocked when she got the role. She was sent 3 pages of dialog, her character only having about 4-5 lines and a dress code and was told the shoot day. The day of the shoot she couldn't be more excited. This was her first time on any kind of actual set with props and cameras and sound. She spent the next 3 hours shooting a small scene in an office building and was paid a very small amount, but was elated that she had made her first dollar doing what she loved, acting.Soon after, she heard through a mentor she met at the mixer that they were gonna hold auditions for their new Indie horror film soon and they sent Shelby an invite to attend. She was hesitant because this was an actual film and she had no experience, she didn't have a resume, a reel or even a professional head shot, but she wasn't gonna let this chance at an experience pass her by. She went and auditioned for the local Indie Horror film and felt totally unprepared. She left the audition not feeling confidant, but got the good news later that week that she had landed one of the lead roles of the film!!Shelby is set to start filming the end of April. Show less «
