Referred to as the "Ambassador of Country Music," Shawn Parr has spent 20 plus years on the Los Angeles country music scene. His involvement in country music spans from his current radio shows to television and the Academy of country music.In August of 2006 thousands of fans rallied to get Country Music back on their local airwaves when the defunct KZLA-FM flipped formats in August of that year. Shawn Parr was the on-air talent when the KZLA flipped. Within less than three months from the loss, Southern California had a new country station on the air. Five months later Shawn Parr was back on the air anchoring the new station.You can find Shawn Parr as KKGO's wake-up voice on his morning show entitled "Shawn Parr with Ashley Paige"(Ashley Paige was formerly a part of the KZLA morning show). You can tune in Monday through Friday 10 AM to 2 PM and on Saturday nights from 7 PM - 10 AM you can hear him again on "Shawn Parr's Number 1 Show." GoCountry 105, became the first affiliate and flagship station for Shawn Parr's "The Number 1 Show," produced by his good friend Rick Dees.The show features 3 hours packed full of number 1 hits and the stories behind them, with the largest variety of number ones,interviews with those artists, and how those artists made it to number 1. Or in other words it has the biggest stories on the biggest songs. GoCountry 105.1 FM radio covers San Diego, Orange Country, Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, California. His show can also be heard world wide streaming on "gocountry.am".Parr has a passion and a long-term involvement with country music. He is heavily involved with the Academy of Country Music and hosted the Academy's Bash in Irvine, California in 2006.Shawn Parr is a Southern Californian native. He grew up in Norwalk, California and attended John Glenn High School, spending a lot of his youth in the "O.C." (Orange County).He began his career at local dance venues and launched into his current career by becoming the warm-up personality for the TV show "Hot Country Nights." As the Announcer for the Academy of Country Music Awards, KZLA brought him on board at the helm of the KZLA Morning Show and later to the mid-day shift.His career also includes acting with roles in such films as "Lucky You" and "Waist Deep." Parr is also the voice of many awards shows such as the Golden Globes, the California Speedway, numerous commercials voice-overs, and the American Music Awards for the 16th year in a row.In addition he does numerous public appearances at such locations as Cowboy Country, Montana's and most KKGO events. Parr is also on the Board of Directors for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has hosted his own annual golf tournament benefiting the John Tracy Clinic. Shawn is an avid golfer and has been a part of the Bob Hope Classic for a number of years. Show less «
