Sarah was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, but raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. Her mother is Rhonda Cole and her father is Daniel F. Cole. She has one brother, Philip Cole. After graduating Lindbergh High School in 2004, she attended the University of Missouri - Columbia, with the intent of a BS in Computer Science. She spent most of her adolescence playing video games, making family and short films, and generally nerdy hobbies. Upon realizing that she could make her editorial hobby a career, she began the process of changing her major. However, UM-Columbia didn't have a film/post production degree; they only had film studies. Set on pursuing this new path, she, along with fellow friends/students, created the student group "Mizzou Students for Film", in an attempt to lobby the university to create a film program. Eventually, her advisor convinced her that were a program to be instated, it wouldn't be within the timeline to receive her degree. Sarah decided to take a semester off and take on an internship at a commercial house in Dallas. Upon completion of her internship, she transferred to the University of Missouri - St. Louis, where she graduated cum laude with a BS in Media Studies in 2008. As luck would have it, that same commercial house in Dallas was opening up a location in Los Angeles. Impressed with her work ethic and skills, they offered her an assistant editor job in their Santa Monica office. She promptly made the trek across country to pursue her film career. After a year in commercials, she was able to make the jump to her first assistant editor role on an animated feature called Freebirds. That was the beginning of her career in a long run of animated films. Show less «
