Born in Beijing, China, Samuel Shen Chong came to the United States at the age of 15, in 1993. He then went to Alhambra High School (located in Los Angeles), UC Berkeley with a BA in economics, London School of Economics and Political Science, and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.After graduation, aside from his daytime jobs, he taught Mandarin Chinese to non-Chinese people in Los Angeles.He accidentally bumped into Hollywood from several of his students who learned Mandarin Chinese from him.
