Ryan John Monaghan was raised in the town of Paisley, Renfrewshire Scotland, by his mother Margaret Monaghan, where he attended St. Andrew's Academy. His aptitude for acting began at the early age of 6, when he aptly impersonated characters from TV and Film. He then became a member of both PACE and Scottish Youth Theatres respectively. This was swiftly followed with representation by agent Anna Tinline of Edinburgh Acting School, where he then went on to secure a number of roles in Theatre, TV & Film.As a teenager Monaghan toyed with the idea of becoming a professional fighter and during this period focused on MMA martial arts training, where he quickly developed fight and body-building skills. However, he soon discovered that he was unable to ignore his first and true passion of acting, and successfully auditioned for a place in Glasgow's West Kelvin College (Stow Campus)on their professional acting programme for stage and screen, where graduated in 2011 with a HND in Acting and Performance. This was later enhanced with further studies at Glasgow's Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he undertook several continuing professional courses in acting for stage and screen.To-date Monaghan's performances have primarily been in theatrical productions, however recent developments now also see his career progress in both spheres of the industry - in screen as well as stage.
