Born in Bologna, he started his artistic career as a musician. Ruben played in several rock bands in Italy and published - as musician, author and composer- two LP : Per un vecchio pazzo (Dedicated to an old man), Pick up Records 1997 - Direzioni (Directions), RMS Co. 2003. In the meantime, he had an eclectic professional career, which led him from private investigation to social service with elderly, from being a Shiatsu therapist to practice Real Estate brokerage. He discovered cinema only in 2005. From that year on, he obtained his diploma in acting from Colli Theatre School of Bologna in 2008; in 2007 he studied Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. During this experience and in the following period, Soriquez wrote various scripts and realized several shorts. Also in 2008, he got the Laurea Degree cum Laude from the University of Bologna, major in promotion and development of human resources, with a thesis related to the educational value of cinema applied to corporate social responsibility. In 2004, he founded the cultural association Eco.Logica.Mente with the goal of promoting the development of human capabilities through arts, with special focus on cinematography, music and literature. He took several workshops with renown director such as Giuseppe Tornatore and Alan Parker and studied acting with Emanuele Montagna and Danny Lemmo, New York's Actor's Studio teacher and lifetime member. In 2008 he realized 'Montovolo. Storia, natura e leggenda', his first documentary film; in 2009 ' Il Venditore', a 18 minutes short film. 'The Fall of Redemption' (working title), his first feature film had a very difficult production. In fact it was never released. In 2010 he produced and directed two documentary film for the Italian World Wildlife Fund. But it's in 2011 that he became known in the Italian film industry with his controversial documentary "Sexocracy", about the sex scandals that involved former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. "La corona Spezzata" is his first fiction feature to be released theatrically (2014). Early 2014, Ruben Maria Soriquez moved to the Philippines where he started producing films with his company See Thru Pictures. In 2015 he produced, directed and starred in "Of Sinners and Saints", for which he won Best Actor in the 2015 edition of World Premieres Film Festival, MetroManila, Philippines.
