Robert Leaf is a film and voiceover actor based in Vancouver. He was born as Robert Hoskyns-Jones in Port Talbot, Wales, and moved to Vancouver Island at age 5, then Toronto at 11, then bounced back and forth between the West Coast and the U.K. His mother was a local theatre actress and director and Robert remembers seeing her on television, flying through the air as 'Peter Pan' in Victoria, c. 1960. He played lead roles in theatre at school, including 'Enry 'Iggins in 'Pygmalion', began fronting a rock band at 19, writing poetry, and pursuing a short-lived academic career that nonetheless he tried to spin out as long as possible, first at the University of Victoria and then at University of Kent at Canterbury, where he obtained a Master's Degree in English after promising he wouldn't trouble academia any longer.A widely varying business career ensued, always in management, always involving bookstores, while he continued to perform, both in bands, in particular England's Newest Hitmakers, The Sensational Sleazybeats! and latterly, Big Road Blues, Vancouver's answer to a question we've forgotten. He also fooled around with standup comedy, and MCing before diving headfirst into acting and voiceover work in 2011.Since then he has booked more than 100 projects - short films, features, voiceovers and commercials - none of which you may have heard of - yet - unless you're buying patio furniture online.
