R.Kan Albay was born on September 1, 1975, in Antwerp Belgium. Albay has a sister Aslihan and two older brothers named Yilmaz and Erol. Erol is a producer and cinematographer.Albay made small roles in television series before landing his breakthrough role as a gangster in the Flemish success movie Dossier K. The role required him to gain 80 pounds in a short period of time. Albay was able to lose all the weight he gained for the movie, after the production. Fortunately, critics took note of his performance and he felt it was a worthwhile risk to show his level of dedication to his craft. He was nominated for the Flemish Ensors (Oscars) and won the Silver horse award for best male actor 2011.The following years, he appeared in many television shows in Belgium and Turkey.
