Studied at the University of Cape Town under Professor Rosalie van der Gucht and Robert Mohr from 1969 and in 1972 he received a BA Drama degree. He was signed up as actor under contract consecutively by all four of the Arts councils. He did his first film and television work after arriving in Johannesburg in 1980 : with Manie van Rensburg Dir. in "The Fourth Reich" and "Taxi to Soweto". Then followed "Dark City", "Laser Mission" (with Brandon Lee and Ernest Borgnine), "Nag van die 19de", "Vyfster 1 & 2" (with Regardt van den Bergh Dir.) and Leon Schuster Dir. in "You must be Joking" and "There's a Zulu on my stoep". Television roles as leading actor in the series "Manakwalanners", "Paradys", "Samaritaan", "Gazette", "Vyfster 1 & 2", "Die Jare Daarna", "Town Guard", "Huisjakker", "Sagmoedige Neelsie".Awards include 1976 : Piers Nicholson Award best contribution as actor, 1994 : Artes Award, Best Supporting Male Actor for "Manakwalanners", 1998 : Pendoring Award for Best Actor National RadioHe continued to work on stage at the Market Theatre, for Pieter Toerien, the Arts Councils and Industrial theatre. He was also involved in giving TV acting courses for actors.
