Peter Fitzgerald is a film producer, director, writer, and picture editor. His many documentaries on classic films and movie stars have included a feature film, several television specials and scores of "making-of" documentaries for TCM, Warner Bros., MGM/UA Home Video and Warner Home Entertainment. Fitzgerald's love of movies began as a boy in Orange County, California where he found refuge in watching thousands of classic films on television, which lead to a minor acting career in New York City ("A Chorus Line" and Radio City Music Hall,) where he broadened his film education at Lincoln Center's Film Series and at dozens of Manhattan revival cinemas. Returning to Southern California in the late 1980's, Fitzgerald continued to act for movies and TV, but soon made the move behind-the-camera to executive produce the acclaimed "That's Entertainment! III" for MGM, which made possible a career as a first-rate archival film documentarian under his banner, Fitzfilm, Inc. as President, CEO, director, writer and picture editor. At MGM/UA Home Video, Fitzgerald created documentaries that would later become a staple on DVD, including "Midnight Cowboy Revisited" starring John Voight, Dustin Hoffman and Brenda Vaccarro and the unreleased cult hit, "West Side Stories" starring Rita Moreno, Russ Tamblyn, George Chakiris and the vivacious female Shark and Jet dancers. In the early 2000's,, Fitzfilm, Inc. became the outlet for scores of TV and home video productions for Turner Classic Movies, ("Destination Hitchcock: The making-of 'North by Northwest,' hosted by Eva Marie Saint, "Joan Crawford The Ultimate Movie Star," narrated by Angelica Huston and "The Age of Believing - The Disney Live Action Classics," narrated by Angela Lansbury) and also for Warner Bros. and Warner Home Entertainment, ("To Oz: The Making-of a Classic," and dozens of others) garnering award nominations. He also produced a franchise of successful Sing-Along videos utilizing the musicals of MGM/UA and Warner Bros. By 2010, the great recession obliterated the archival film documentary business and Fitzgerald bridged the gap by becoming an independently contracted picture editor under the Fitzfilm, Inc. banner. His work would include editing TV specials, series, reality shows, Docu-Soaps and documentaries (Discovery's Shark Week, The History Channel's Ancient Aliens and Lifetime's Dance Moms to name a few.) In 2014, Fitzgerald edits TV, writes screenplays ("Resenting Helen Hellinger") and a memoir, "Me, Me, Me." Show less «
