Paulo Calatré was born in Porto on January 20, 1976.He began his studies at ACE - Escola das Artes in the course of Visual Arts (set design, costumes and props). In 1998 he received a scholarship from the Leonardo Program and went to Madrid to study makeup special effects. He graduated in Acting and attended the Master's degree in Staging at the School of Music, Arts and Performance - ESMAE in Porto.As a teacher he regularly collaborates with ESMAE - Escola Superior de Música, Artes do Espectáculo and ACE- Escola de Artes Porto and Famalicão and he is currently a professor of Improvisation and Acting at ACE Famalicão and Lusófona Porto.As an actor, he collaborated with several companies and directors, highlighting João Cardoso (Assédio), Nuno Carinhas (Teatro Nacional São João), Nuno Cardoso (Ao Cabo Teatro and Teatro Nacional São João), Ricardo Alves (Teatro da Palmilha Dentada), Júlio Cardoso (Seiva Trupe), Avaro Lavín (Teatro do Morcego e Seiva Trupe), Roberto Merino (Seiva Trupe), Luís Varela, Gonçalo Amorim (Teatro Experimental do Porto), Luísa Pinto (Cine-Teatro Constantino Nery), Fernando Mora Ramos (Teatro da Rainha) , António Júlio (Teatro Experimental do Porto), among others.In Teatro Nacional São João, he was part of the cast of Breve Sumário da História de Deus, by Gil Vicente, directed by Nuno Carinhas (2009); Le Fin des Possibilitiés, by Jean-Pierre Sarrazac, directed by Nuno Carinhas and Fernando Mora Ramos (2014); and Die Letzten Tage Der Menschheit, by Karl Kraus, directed by Nuno Carinhas and Nuno M Cardoso (2016), Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, directed by Nuno Carinhas (2017); A Promessa, by Bernardo Santareno, directed by João Cardoso and Danton Tod by Georg Buchner, directed by Nuno Cardoso (2019).He has developed work as a theatre director, highlighting the following shows: Diário de um Condenado, from Le Dernier Jour d'un Condamné, by Victor Hugo; Quarto 34, from Le Malentendu, by Albert Camus; R.III, from Richard the III, from Shakespeare; Gil & Vicente - Uma Viagem de Barca ao Inferno, from Auto da Barca do Inferno, by Gil Vicente; and A La Poursuite de Lóiseau Du Sommeil and Les Aventures D'Auren, Le Petit Serial Killer by Joseph Danan; Pervertimento, by José Sanchis Sinisterra; Questa sera si recita a soggetto, by Luigi Pirandello; Chat Room by Enda Walsh; Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare and Coro dos Maus Alunos, by Tiago Rodrigues.He is also known for is work in film and television.
