Born in Redmond, Washington, Paul Michael Bloodgood is a film director / actor / singer / dancer. Now in his 18th season as a professional dancer, Mr. Bloodgood has performed with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Pacifica, Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, with tour highlights to Europe, Israel, China, Puerto Rico, the Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, and Hawaii. Past repertoire as the principal male include: Hamlet*, Romeo & Juliet, Giselle, The Taming of the Shrew, Swan Lake, The Firebird, The Sleeping Beauty, The Rite of Spring, La Sylphide, Coppelia, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Nutcracker, Liaisons, and as a principal in George Balanchine's Episodes*, Allegro Brillante and Agon, Antony Tudor's Sunflowers, and Choo-San Goh's Double Contrasts. Paul Michael was 1 of 2 dancers to originate the role of The Beast in Stephen Mills' Belle Redux / A Tale of Beauty & the Beast, as well as over 50 other original short works throughout his career. A 3-time Austin Critics Table Award* recipient, Paul Michael is a union member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, appearing in film, television, and in national print work including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times,The Washington Post, Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine, Dance Teacher, and Dance Spirit Magazine. One of Paul Michael's first film projects in Hollywood as an actor was a supporting role opposite Mena Suvari in the music video "Teenage Dirtbag" for the feature film, Loser. Other notable appearances include television's Bill Nye the Science Guy, Mostly True Stories and feature films such as Forest Whitaker's First Daughter, Richard Linklater's Bernie, Lee Tamahori's XXX: State of the Union and Michael Bay's blockbuster, Transformers. Paul Michael has worked on over 25 independent film projects, including Terry Zwigoff's Art School Confidential, Steve Wolf's Bending Light, and Chris Obal's The Last Day of Joseph Goebbels. Paul Michael has taken extensive martial arts training from Grand Master Wonik Yi (Sin City) for his upcoming lead role as The Bounty Hunter in Rene Hinojosa's Templar: Honor Among Thieves, and he holds the rank of pum dan in Tukong Moosul martial arts. Paul Michael earned his Dance & the Humanities degree from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas while concurrently pursuing his efforts in the film industry and continuing his dance career. Paul Michael's studio band, Floating Pockets, has an album on iTunes/Amazon/Pandora Radio, with their single "Adore," reaching #3 on the mp3.com music charts. Paul Michael has served as a director / producer / editor on several independent film projects, and is releasing his feature-length debut with the film documentary, Trenches of Rock, executive produced by Oscar and Grammy winning director, James Moll.
