Paul started working in the movie industry in 1998 as a storyboard and conceptual artist for Mel Gibson's Icon Productions. Over the next few years he worked steadily developing digital skills in graphic design working for both the film, and multimedia industries. Skills that would later become essential tools in the pre-visualization process of film production. His first production as a director was a short film 'Remembrances of Maire' about the life of his mother who died at a young age. It was shot on Super-VHS and edited on the AVID editing system. From 2002-2005 while working for Aigeanta Pictures he wrote, directed and produced the short film 'Sniper Story' about a sniper haunted by the memories of the victims he's hired to kill. He also wrote 'Contact' the short story and film about a little boy who befriends a drifter on the west coast of California, helping each other on their journey. When the kid goes missing the drifter finds out he was the spirit of a kid who died in a motor accident. In 2005 he formed Little Step Productions. The first production would be Janey Mary. The heart felt story of a little 4-year-old girl in 1940's Dublin who's sent out by her desperate mother to beg for food on the streets and the Church who gave hand outs. It was a very personal story that he studied as a child growing up, by famous Irish author James Plunkett. The film had a budget of 100,000 euro and was shot on 35mm Black & White film stock with Panavision Cameras and Lens. It has since gone on to win 5 top awards including: 'Best Director' - Mirabile Dictu International Catholic Film Festival 'Best Short Subject' - Hollywood Film Festival - Discovery Award 'Best Short Film' - Moondance International Film Festival 'Best Cinematography' - Rhode Island International Film Festival 'Special Jury Mention Award' - European Independent Film Festival). Paul has many film projects in the pipeline - including a feature length version of 'Janey Mary'. In between writing and developing films, Paul has lectured at both 2nd and 3rd level colleges film and multimedia studies and gave master-classes on film directing. In 2010 he worked with producer Gerry Gregg (A Love Divided, Gangland) and renowned criminologist and novelist Paul Williams in developing a hard-hitting feature film telling the story of a realistic depiction of gangland life told through the eyes of a young youth pulled into the seedy Dublin underworld. The project is being written by Paul Williams. Paul has played piano since the age of 7, going on to learn classical piano in the prestigious College of Music in Dublin, and later on to teach it for 15 years as something he enjoyed. Paul goes between Dublin and Los Angeles where he's developing a slate of feature film projects. Show less «
