Pat Smith is a Toronto born writer, actor and producer. Most recently, Pat has worked as a story editor on the Netflix/Rogers drama series BETWEEN and is currently writing on the Netflix/Showcase sci-fi series TRAVELERS (Fall, 2016), created by Brad Wright. In 2015, Pat become an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) as a graduate of the Bell Media Prime Time TV Writers Program. Before joining the CFC, Pat was performing as a member of The Second City National Touring Company. In 2013, he was awarded the CTV Bell Media National Fellowship, recognizing him as one of Canada's top up and coming show creators. This comes after an exciting 2012, where Pat sold his first feature script and co-created, co-wrote and co-starred in his first TV series, "Guidance" for BlueAnt Media/Bite TV. The series was nominated for a 2014 Canadian Comedy Award for "Best Writing in a TV Series".As a partner at 83 Pictures, Pat has been lucky enough to work on some amazing short form projects made for broadcast. His first work with 83 Pictures was first as an actor in the short film "The Lakeview" (2009, CBC). However, in 2010 Pat became a partner of the company, continuing to act in "Happiness is Hate Therapy" (2010, CBC, Bravo!) and co-writing/producing "Boss of Me" (2011, CBC, Bravo!). With the company, Pat has also wrote and starred in some acclaimed web videos such as "Suburbanite" (2010 Canadian Comedy Award Nominee) and "Call Me Dad" (2011 Canadian Comedy Award Nominee).As a comedian, Pat has performed for The Second City (2009-2011, 2013, 2014) while also studying improv and sketch comedy with members of: The Impatient Theatre Company, Bad Dog Theatre Company, i.O West (L.A.), The Pit (New York) and The Groundlings (L.A.). His work on stage has allowed him to perform all over North America, including the Just For Laughs Festival in Toronto with his sketch duo "Haircut", alongside Allison Price.
