Born in Seattle, Washington, Pat Silver-Lasky wrote as a team (as Pat Silver) with her late husband, the well-known Hollywood screenwriter and author, Jesse L. Lasky Jr., son of the film pioneer Jesse Lasky who produced the first full length motion picture in Hollywood, The Squaw Man (1914). With Jesse Jr., Pat wrote 4 books including the American best-seller, 'The Offer' 1982, produced 8 films, nearly 100 TV scripts including the award winning TV series Explorers (Les Dix Audacieux (1960) in the US). She began her career by producing, writing, directing and acting in the first live TV series from Hollywood 'Mabel's Fables' for KTLA which received an Emmy nomination!As an A.S.C.A.P. lyricist she published 14 songs. Johnny Mathis' Portrait of Johnny included her lyric "While You're Young". She also wrote lyrics for two (2) films at Columbia, Robbers' Roost (1955) & Radio Stars on Parade. Pat has lived in London since the 1960s. She and Jesse were head writers & story editors of the Philip Marlowe, détective privé (1983) TV series (see credits). Pat has lectured on script writing and was script consultant and lecturer at the London International Film School for 8 yrs. until 1999. Her new book "Screenwriting For the 21st Century" is to be published by Batsford (Chrysalis) Books in August 2003. She will be conducting a 1 week writing seminar at Castle of Park, Scotland (see their website) in September 2003 and will speak at the Writer's Conference on the Isle of Wight in October 2003.
