Paquita Hughes, military veteran who served in the US Navy as an Air Traffic Controller, works as a Producer, First Assistant Director and Location Manager in Los Angeles, CA. She is an honors graduate of New York Film Academy and Los Angeles Film School. Her past projects include festival winners "The Rat", "The Middle" and "American Girl"; not to mention festival selections for dramatic shorts such as "Taboo", for the San Diego Black Film Festival and also, "Breaking The Silence", for the GI Film Festival in Washington D.C. With over 100 productions under her belt, she was selected to work with Imaginary Forces as an Associate Producer where she assisted on such productions as the MTV Movie Awards, Electronic Arts Battlefield: Hardline promo and Discovery ID's "Swamp Murders" opening sequence. Her experience also includes award winning PSA's, commercials and independent feature films such as, "Chocolate City", starring Robert RiChard, Michael Jai White, Tyson Beckford and Vivica A Fox; also the urban comedy feature film, "Internship Games", starring Tonya Banks of Lifetime's "Little Women of LA". Recently, she was selected and trained by the Local 399 Teamsters Union to be a Location Manager, as part of their very first hiring initiative for military veterans. She has been featured on NPR and ABC news to discuss her projects, career and military heritage. Paquita was also a guest on Kevin Smith's podcast, "Film School Fridays", and is published in a photo book titled, "Veteran Vision Project" profiling veterans, their struggles, families, commitment and service.
