Emmy Award winning P. Frank Williams is a TV/Film producer, writer, journalist, author and commentator. Over the past two decades, he's worked in newspapers, magazines, TV, film and even wrote and co-produced the big budget video game 25 To Life, produced by Eidos and the new Heatwave Interactive we based game Platinum Life. He is a producer for BET's award winning documentary series "American Gangster" and TV One's acclaimed "Unsung" documentary series. He recently won a 2008 NAACP Image Award for co-producing BET's "Celebration of Gospel."He has also produced films including the Paramount Pictures released "Wu: The Story of the Wu- Tang Clan" and the upcoming Universal/ Def Jam film "A Hustler's Ambition," a documentary about the life of multi-platinum rap star Young Jeezy. The film is directed by Chris Robinson ("ATL") who has helmed video clips for Eminem, Lil' Wayne, Jay-Z and more. Williams serves as the West Coast producer for BET News and previously worked as a development consultant and producer for VH1 Networks, where he pitched, created and put legs on shows in development. His TV writing/producing credits include the 2010 BET Honors on BET, 2010 BET Awards on BET, 2009 NAACP Image Awards on FOX and the 2005 Hip Hop Honors on VH1. He also served on NBC's Emmy winning writing team for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. Williams was a writer for Pat O'Brien's late night show on NBC.Williams was formerly Executive Editor of The Source magazine, where he interviewed and profiled the likes of Ice Cube, Spike Lee, Snoop, Lauryn Hill and many more. He conducted an infamous jailhouse interview with controversial record executive Suge Knight and wrote profiles on hip hop culture in Europe and Africa. In the mid 1990's, Williams served as a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times, where he covered the police beat, pop culture and Generation X. While at the paper he interviewed Bono, P. Diddy, ex-LA mayor Richard Riordan and others. He has also worked as a general assignment reporter at New York Newsday and the San Francisco Chronicle. His byline covering music, film and TV personalities pops up in magazines like Spin, Vibe, King, Complex and many more.The traveling man frequently speaks to high school and college students about the power of urban culture in the 21st century. He is an internationally recognized expert on hip-hop and pop culture, speaking at universities like UC Berkeley, UCLA and USC and appearing as a guest on CNN, The Jenny Jones Show, Oprah, Power 106 radio station, online sites and other venues. Williams will be on tour at universities and colleges across the country this year sharing firsthand stories about his experiences with celebrities like Tupac Shakur, Diana Ross, Suge Knight, Don Cheadle, Hugh Hefner, Quincy Jones, Bill Clinton, Queen Latifah, Dr. Cornel West, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z and many more.Williams received a fellowship at Georgetown University's "Institute on Political Journalism," the "Zora Neale Hurston Richard Wright Writing Workshop" at Howard University and the "Bill and Camille Cosby TV and Screenwriting Fellowship" at USC. He is the founder and president of Prophet From It Entertainment, a media- consulting firm based in downtown Los Angeles and Toronto. The six-year-old company helps TV, film, magazine and video game companies connect with authentic urban tastemakers and experts.
