Nick Isel was featured prominently in the book "Genius Factory" as a teenager under the pseudonym "Tom Legare". The author "David Plotz" interviewed him about his experiences growing up as a progeny of the "Repository for Germinal Choice" Aka "Genius Sperm Bank" and led the search for his biological father; documenting the quest and eventual first meeting while providing background information about the bank itself. Nick has also been featured in Esquire magazine, NPR Snap Judgement and "This is Life with Lisa Ling" sharing his story of personal growth and following up on the events described in the book "Genius Factory". He is an advocate for the rights of the "Donor-Conceived" community and recently filed a citizen's petition to the US FDA regarding ending "Donor Anonymity" for sperm/egg donation establishments and increasing regulations and oversight; which is under review and open for comment from the general public until "Mar 27, 2017". He works closely with the organization CanaVox and the owner's of the websites donorchildren , anonymousus and wearedonorconceived to help other donor-conceived persons connect with their donor and siblings and promote awareness of the "right to identity". Nick is also a state of IL licensed, bonded and insured roofing contractor who encourages sustainable building construction focusing on conservation of finite resources for future generations (member of TransitionUS) and is currently co-authoring a book with photographer and frequent Huffington Post contributor "Erin Clark Zahradka". He is featured prominently in the upcoming movie "Genius Factory" directed by Daryl Stoneage.
