A native of Philadelphia, Nick Catania developed his love of filmmaking after his family relocated to the New York City area. During visits to the City, Nick was captivated by the diversity of films and genres he was exposed to in one of the media capitals of the world. First traveling with his family, then later during train-rides to Manhattan with friends, he fell in love with the seemingly limitless capacity for storytelling through moving images. After graduating from SUNY Fredonia with a BA in Television/Film Production he returned to the NYC area, ultimately settling in Brooklyn to begin his career in production. Starting as a production assistant on films and commercials, Nick worked his way up the ranks working as a Grip and Electric, then Camera Department; eventually transitioning to shooting both film and video. With digital cinema technology reshaping the electronic media landscape, Nick embraced the capability of filmmakers to take a product from concept to completion with a smaller footprint. Teaming up with like-minded friends in the industry, he began Directing and Shooting his own projects alongside his work in traditional media. He has recently gravitated towards documentary and reality shooting, often on the road, combining his passion for action sports and the outdoors; thinking in pictures, capturing the essence of the moment and bringing it to the screen.
