Michael Vincent Carrera is a native of Brooklyn, New York. As a teenager he caught the dance bug after seeing John Travolta strut and dance in "Saturday Night Fever" which was filmed in Michael's Bensonhurst neighborhood. Add in watching the films of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and it was off to dance class and a love of dance that continues to today. At this time Michael also became enthralled with the great screen actors coming out of New York. Actors like Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman were influencing Michael to study and pursue acting as well. After graduating from Brooklyn College with a minor in dance, Michael pursued a career in musical theatre. His work took him on tours and theaters around North America, in New York and even a gig at a casino in Atlantic City. Realizing that his dream of straight dramatic acting was still not being fulfilled Michael pursued his Master of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Iowa where he performed in over twenty five productions and worked three seasons with the professional company at the university, Iowa Summer Rep. Michael then spent time in Los Angels building his resume in theatre and film before returning to New York to pursue further screen and stage opportunities. Michael also works quite often in the Chicago market where he played "Dad" in the Emmy nominated PBS educational show for kids,"Moochie KaLaLa Detectives Club." In Chicago Michael also works as in house Casting Director and Acting Coach for Dreaming Tree Films which has produced the features, "The Stream" and "Alternate Universe: A Rescue Mission." Michael's work has been covered by numerous media outlets including,"The New York Times," "The New York Daily News," "The Brooklyn Daily Eagle," "The Los Angeles Times," "LA Weekly," "The Hollywood Reporter," "The Chicago Tribune," "The Chicago Sun Times," and "Movie Maker" magazine. In a career that has included musical theatre, dance/theatre, music videos, new plays, the classics, television and film, Michael has tasted a bit of all that the business has to offer.
