Actor/Singer/Director, Michael R. Petyak, has been involved with professional stage theatre and film/television throughout the United States. He's done stunt work on WGN America's Outsiders, Replicate, & IFC's new web series, Trollville. He also worked in background casting on both Denzel Washington's Fences, & WGN America's Outsiders. His lead roles in short films include playing Simon in Cassie, Chad in Cliff, and supporting lead, Peter, in Why We're Numb. Theatrical credits include Sebastian Palk in A Pirate's Tale (World Premier), Romeo in Romeo & Juilet (The Crosley Theater), Bob Junior in Who Is Bob Friendly? (Pittsburgh Fringe Festival), Doctor/Guitarist in Big River (Great Plains Theatre), Lucio/Guitarist in Measure for Measure (Harrisburg Shakespeare Company/Gamut Theatre), & Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years (Underground Actors).Petyak is also a writer who creates both music and plays. He's written music for Harrisburg Shakespeare Company's Measure for Measure and for the Rakish Rogues musical group at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. He was also one of four playwrights that helped create and concept the piece Who is Bob Friendly for the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival, which was produced by Cup A Jo Productions. He also is a fight choreographer for stage, which has included work with Cup A Jo Productions' The Sisters.In 2010, Petyak debut directed and produced his first full production of Steve Martin's WASP at Shenandoah University. From 2011-2012, he took an assistant directing/dramaturgy/administrative internship at Wayside Theatre under nine times Jefferson Award director, Warner Crocker. At Wayside he worked on creating new works such as Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure and Glory Bea! From there, Michael has directed/produced in numerous venues in Pittsburgh, including the Pittsburgh New Works Festival (Sweet Tea & Cadillacs), as well as within his own resident theater company that he founded, Hambone's Theater Company (Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Much A-Brew About Nothing: A Drunken Night of Shakespeare, & Candy & Shelley Go To The Desert). Michael is also one of the founding members of Shenot Farm Theater in Wexford, Pennsylvania.Michael R. Petyak has his BFA in Music Theatre Performance from Shenandoah University, Magna Cum Laude. Michael is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.Current projects include directing Much A-Brew About Nothing: A Drunken Night of Shakespeare for Hambone's Theater Company, where he also will be producing a live stage reading of both Planes, Trains & Automobiles for Thanksgiving, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation for donation and charity during the holiday season. Michael will also be acting as Narrator/Bob Cratchit in a modern adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol with Shenot Farm Theater over December.
