Referred to as a boy genius at the start of his career Michael Lloyd has certainly proven that right. Over the past 40 (plus) years the prolific and talented record producer has accumulated in excess of 100 gold and platinum records well over 72 albums and 34 singles collecting numerous #1 singles and albums.Lloyd's records, ranging from Pop & Rock to Country & Jazz, R&B & Gospel, have been recognized by such organizations as the Grammys, the American Music Awards, the Academy Awards, the Dove Awards (the Christian Music equivalent of the Grammy), the National Association of Record Merchants and The Golden Globe Awards. He is featured in Who's Who in America, in California and in Entertainment. His various chart records span five decades, from the 60's to the present.Additionally, Lloyd has provided scoring, music supervision, song writing, song placement and or music producing for well over 100 motion pictures, 16 TV movies, 13 television specials & 35 television series.As well as being the music supervisor for the motion picture, and the Dirty Dancing album (which established itself as the all time best selling multi-artist soundtrack), Michael produced the blockbuster hits "I've Had The Time Of My Life" for Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, "Yes" by Merry Clayton and "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze. Additionally, Michael composed and produced the Latin dance music.Michael was taking classical piano at the age of four. At approximately twelve years of age, he started his own band. And by the time he was 13, he began receiving instruction in musical theory and harmony and the technique of scoring motion pictures. It was at this time he met Mike Curb, which began a long and fruitful friendship and business association that continues today. Curb put Lloyd to work scoring motion pictures, and a few years later, when Curb became president of MGM Records, he brought Lloyd, then 20 years old, in as vice president of A & R.At MGM Records, Lloyd signed Lou Rawls, which generated Lloyd's first major hit, A Natural Man. Some of the artists Lloyd has worked with over the years include Barry Manilow, Belinda Carlisle, Kimberley Locke, Dionne Warwick, Steve Holy, Natalie Grant, Bill Medley, Benny Mardones, Stryper, Jennifer Warnes, The Righteous Brothers, The Monkees, Shaun Cassidy, Eric Carman, The Bellamy Brothers, The Burrito Brothers, The New Seekers, Sammy Davis Jr., Air Supply, Carmen, Jeffrey Osborne, The Osmonds, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Bill Medley, Tamara Walker, The Pointer Sisters, Leif Garrett, Susie Alllanson, Brush Arbor, Donny & Marie, Maureen McGovern, Roger Williams, Merry Clayton, Debby Boone, and Frank Sinatra, performing a special collector's version of Silent Night.Recently, Lloyd and artist Kimberley Locke made music business history by having 3 consecutive #1 Christmas songs, Up On The Housetop (2005), Jingle Bells (2006) and Frosty the Snowman (2007).Another noteworthy project of Lloyd's is the family oriented "Kidsongs" line of videos. The award winning series - produced by Together Again Productions - features updated, standard nursery songs, plus original songs composed by Lloyd. A TV series, based on the videos, has been broadcast on the PBS Network.Lloyd has also ventured into film and television production. Having produced feature motion pictures and a television movie, he is developing more projects. Additionally, he is a consultant to new media companies specializing in music and entertainment.Lloyd's work continues with Foodfight a new animated movie from Larry Kasanoff (Terminator 2, True Lies, Mortal Kombat) and Threshold Entertainment, The Next Big Thing, ABC's top new reality show for the summer of 07, The Magic of Christmas recent CD with Marie Osmond, number 1 country artist Steve Holy, number 1 AC artist Kimberley Locke (from American Idol), new artist, Torsha Lynn, TV series The Big Gay Sketch Show and Sordid Lives on Logo/MTV, the Dirty Dancing musical (now sold out in Germany, London's West End and Toronto and starting soon in the US, Holland, Spain, France and Italy), Broken Trail with Robert Duval Emmy winner for Best Mini Series, Rocky, the Musical (for Sylvester Stallone), The Capture of the Green River Killer miniseries for Lifetime the number 1 and 2 movie alltime for the network, new motion pictures, Camille for Academy Award winning producer Al Ruddy, Greatest American Hero and other new film projects for legendary producer/writer Steven Cannel; and many others.Lloyd's contributions to the community have centered around children. He has been on the board of directors (Varsity Club) of former Los Angeles Lakers Star Byron Scott's Challenge for Children which raised funds for various child health related causes in Orange County, California. Additionally, he participated in Christmas projects that benefit Child Health nationwide. He also is head of the advisory board for the Child Safety Network to promote internet and child safety programs.Lloyd has been continuing to work and support music and arts education through SC6 Music and Arts Coalition for children grades K-12. He addressed the PTA Conventions in Los Angeles and Long Beach (2008) and participated in other various events for LAUSD. He is a featured speaker at the Taxi Road Rally Convention for aspiring composers and performers and has guest lectured at The Musicians Institute, UCLA and Pepperdine.
