Michael Blakey, born in London, England, has earned multiple music degrees from the London Royal College of Music, the University of Berlin as well as the University of Madrid. Coming to the United States with a vast array of musical experience as an accomplished drummer, hit making music producer and music promoter, Blakey made his life long passion and talent for music his business. He earned his first gold record at the age of 12 with the band Christie, won European Musician of the Year two years in a row (age 14 and 15) and became the head of Music Production at the famous Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin all before the young age of 22. Over his career, he has successfully created three record labels, has earned 63 gold and platinum records, is attributed with the sales of in excess of 100 million albums, plus has been nominated for 5 Grammy awards. Through his success, he has been able to work with many superstar artists and producers such as Madonna, No Doubt, Coolio, Tears for Fears, Willie Nelson, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gloria Gaynor, Glen Campbell, Julio Iglesias and many more; he won Melody Maker Producer of the year in 1995 (Europe's equivalent to the Grammys). In 1999, Blakey co-founded 2KSounds and was the first to integrate the Internet into daily operations for the successful distribution of music. Soon after going public in early 2002, 2KSounds entered into a joint venture with Virgin Records and Mr. Blakey was appointed the President of the Record Division. Throughout his career Blakey produced music as well as soundtracks for Television sitcoms and dramas, numerous HBO specials and Motion Pictures including Disney's Cinderella II. Blakey was invited to the White House by President George Bush and was recognized as one of the Top Ten Innovators of the Decade, together with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Estee Lauder and Michael Kors. He was additionally honored by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of production, promotion, marketing and all related areas of the entertainment industry. Now having teamed up with renowned comedian Ron White to create Organica Music Group (OMG), Blakey has already signed several new and existing artists to the label including Gladys Knight, Margo Rey, and Playboy Playmate Crystal Harris, Hugh Hefner's fiancee. Michael Blakey is also the head of Electra Star Management and was recently appointed manager of comedian, Ron White as well as singer-songwriter Margo Rey. Show less «
