Michael Alban grew up in Westminster, Maryland, a half hour drive from the Civil War Battlefield in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where he spent his summers camping with his two sisters and maternal grandparents, who were of Pennsylvania Dutch descent. His paternal grandfather came from County Cork, Ireland, and his maternal grandmother was of French descent and grew up near Walton Mountain in Western Virginia. His mother, Phyllis, worked as a baker and his father, Michael Roy, was a telephone technician. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Towson University, just north of Baltimore. He is an accomplished musician and toured extensively with the now defunct band, Jonasay. When not on tour, he taught music lessons. His most famous student was current host of CBS Face The Nation, John Dickerson. He also briefly sang with a few opera companies in Baltimore. An early experience as an extra on the film He Said, She Said gave him taste for working on a film set, and after years of pursuing a music career, he turned to acting. He did his actor training in New York at Ward Studio and Michael Chekhov Studio. Shows he has appeared in include House of Cards on Netflix and the Fox series, Legends and Lies.
