Meredith Vuchnich is a WGC winning and CSA nominated writer of feature films and television, recognized on the 2020 Variety 10 Screenwriters To Watch List. She co-wrote and executive produced the feature film Beans, which premiered at TIFF and earned numerous awards, including the Writer's Guild of Canada Best Feature Film Screenplay. Selected TV writing credits include Remedy and ReGenesis. Vuchnich is writing a feature film for EMAFilms and developing an original medical television drama.Meredith Vuchnich co-wrote and executive produced the feature film Beans, with director Tracey Deer. Beans is an Indigenous coming-of-age story set during the 1990 Oka Crisis, an armed Indigenous uprising. It garnered rave reviews and was an audience hit at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, was second runner-up for the prestigious TIFF People's Choice Award, and topped TIFF's Canada's Top Ten Canadian Features for 2020. Beans has been nominated for five Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Picture, and has won many festival awards, including Best Canadian Film and Most Popular Canadian Narrative at the Vancouver Film Festival. Vuchnich and Deer were included on the influential Variety 10 Screenwriters To Watch List for 2020, won the TIFF-CBC Films Screenwriter Award for best screenplay and won the WGC Screenwriting Award for Best Feature Film.Vuchnich has written for one-hour television dramas including ReGenesis, Remedy and Godiva's as well as half-hour dramatic comedies such as Train 48 and The Saddle Club. She was nominated for Best Writer in a Dramatic Series at the Canadian Screen Awards for her work on ReGenesis.She is writing the film adaptation of the investigative journalism expose Blamed and Broken for EMAFilms and recently completed the pilot for Heart Matters, a one-hour medical drama. She is co-writing another feature To Speak For the Trees, from the book of the same name. She is a consultant on the Teen Ghost Detective Agency movie series.
