A native of Georgia and based out of Chicago, Matthew has performed with many of the finest "Windy City" theaters as well as a number of America's top Regional Theaters. Matthew has been an ensemble member of Chicago's American Blues Theatre Company since 2001 where he has fifteen production credits including Hank Williams: Lost Highway, Oklahoma, A View from the Bridge, Catch 22, Tobacco Road, True West and The Hairy Ape. Other Chicago credits include: Frost/Nixon (TimeLine Theatre), Carousel, Titus Andronicus (Court Theatre), Another Part of the Forest, Loot (Writers' Theatre) She Stoops to Conquer (Northlight Theatre), The Winning Streak (Apple Tree Theatre), Mary Zimmerman's Eleven Rooms of Proust (About Face Theatre/Lookingglass Theatre), five productions with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Matthew has received a Broadway World Chicago Award nomination (Principal Actor) and three Equity Jeff Award nominations for his work as a Chicago Actor - most recently he won the 2014 Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Principal Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of "Hank Williams Sr." which the Chicago Tribune called "the best work of Brumlow's long career." The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel named Nobody Lonesome for Me (a solo show about country music legend Hank Williams Sr) one of the "Top Solo Theatre Productions of 2011."Matthew is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Lee University (B.A. English) where he was awarded the 1996 F.J.Lee Award (Lee University's most prestigious award given to one graduate annually.) Matthew also holds a Master's Degree in Theatre from Northwestern University. He is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and is represented by Chicago's Big Mouth Talent.
