Maruia is a French-Colombian actress with Tahitian origins, who speaks fluent English, French and Spanish. Currently shooting in the new series for Netflix, (Narcos (2015)), she premiered her second feature film in a starring role in Locarno 2016, (This Time Tomorrow (2016)). She has worked in several American productions like Ken Sanzel's (Blunt Force Trauma (2015)) alongside Ryan Kwanten and Freida Pinto, and (The Belko Experiment (2016)) alongside Tony Goldwyn and John McGinley. As well as studying American acting methods, she also studied physical theatre, dance and choreography in Paris and London, where she lived for almost ten years as a theatre performer. She returned to Colombia and started acting almost exclusively for film after finishing post-graduate studies in Cultural Management. In the last few years she has starred in (El resquicio (2012)), a feature film premiering at the BIFF in Korea and winner at the NIFF in Switzerland, and in many short films including La Vida Secreta de Isabel Goncourt by Andrés Hernández, winner of several awards in Colombia.
