His talent and 'x-factor' quickly became evident, and he has developed into a powerful midfielder for the Highlanders and the All Blacks. He formed a successful partnership with Ryan Crotty in 2016. Fekitoa has earned praise for his powerful running, abrasive defence and hunger to learn more and improve his game. The All Blacks selectors came calling in 2014 after the Tongan-born Fekitoa went from strength to strength in his debut season for the Highlanders and became eligible to play for New Zealand that season. Fekitoa appeared for the Tongan sevens team as a schoolboy. He attended Wesley College, which has produced 10 All Blacks including Rugby World Cup legend Jonah Lomu. He is one of 14 children.
