Makgano Mamabolo is a South African filmmaker and household name brand actress, who works very comfortably both in front of the camera to behind the scenes, as a Show Runner: producer; scriptwriter; director. She graduated from the National School of Arts and acquired her Bachelor's Degree from AFDA (The African School of Film and Dramatic Arts) - starting her professional career as an actress in 2001. She has for the past 20 years, performed in a spectrum of genres from film, drama, sitcom, commercials, soap opera, telenovela, presenting, as well as theater... having starred as: Miss Kwa Kwa - her own one-woman stage production, in theaters country wide, for four years (which has since been adapted into two novels). She has worked on a number of critically acclaimed productions, both as a company MD and a freelancer, having produced the international multiple award-winning documentary: SKULLS OF MY PEOPLE on AL JEZEERA and was the Associate Producer on the award winning Out In Africa feature film: WHILE YOU WEREN'T LOOKING. She has recently completed 150 episodes of a long running drama series: LITHAPO as the Creative Producer, after the resounding success of her cinematic comedy performance in the film: ZULU WEDDING and DIAMOND CITY on NETFLIX. Makgano has had the honor of being a 2021 FESPACO film festival Grand Jury member for the African Union, and sat on the SAFTA - Golden Horn Awards Judging panel in 2008&9. She also sits on the Board of the African Craft Trust, since 2011. Makgano is also a published poet, a voice over artist and a Master of Ceremonies who also avails herself for panel discussions on the South African Film and Television industry as a queer black female Filmmaker - Show-Runner.
