Maggie Bakir, born in Istanbul, started training for ballet at the age of 6. The dance school she attended, Dance Akademik was a collaborate of Royal Academy of Ballet. The first time she went on stage was at Ataturk Kultur Merkezi in Istanbul, performing on Nutcracker. Ballet would be a constant part of her life for 12 years. At the age of 14, she joined evening stage school where she attended training and rehearsals in the evenings after school. The training included dance and singing and the plays performed were mainly musicals. She obtained her BA on Cinema & TV at Istanbul Bilgi University. In 1999, she attended New York Film Academy's "Acting For Film" course that took place at Cambridge University. She received Master's Degree on TV & Video Production at Bournemouth University. She had her first work experience in the U.K at Working Title Films during the productions of Johnny English. She is the director/scriptwriter and presenter of A Turkish National Channel - TRT1 teen-oriented program - '1dakika 1dünya' (1 minute 1 world) - the TV program traveled Turkey and provided visual storytelling and filmmaking training to youngsters at their hometowns. The Show won the Jury Award at Olympia Camera Zizanio Film Festival.
