Actor Linda Hooks was born in Newark, New Jersey to a musical family. She began her career as a singer at the age of 3, where she performed and toured with her family singing group. By the time she was a teenager, she had honed her skills as both a singer and actress. She played roles in various church and school plays which ultimately got the attention of Model Inc. At 14, she landed her first commercial with Sprite. After her initial years of college, she served in the US Armed Forces as a Military Police Officer. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, she returned to entertainment where she landed her first co-starring role in the international stage play, Sister Act, which toured extensively in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
