Linda Irene Barber was born in Waverly, Tennessee on May 23, 1954. Her parents were Enid Haney,a Director of Schools and Orvel Barber, a pipefitter foreman at TVA. Linda had an idyllic childhood roaming the banks of the Tennessee River, but she dreamed of leaving the small town to become an FBI agent and got her Criminology degree from FSU. While attending FSU, she got involved with the theatre almost changed major to theatre, but decided she was too close to graduation. Later, she attended law school and got her master's in English thinking of following in her mother's footsteps but was never quite satisfied and after her marriage to John Bingham, a lawyer, and the birth of their two children and a successful real estate career,she began to perform roles in various theatres in the area. She went back to school at ETSU and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta to study acting. She has had prized roles as Amanda in "Glass Menagerie" and Mary Ignatius in "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All" and at age 50, she landed an agent and began to carve out a small film/TV career along with theatrical roles, commercial and industrial work. She recently filmed a small role in "Nth Ward" and is continuing to film in the series, "Gritz". She will be performing a leading role in a new film, "Twenty-five Five" being shot in Seattle in February, 2015.
