Lane was born in Sydney, Australia. He grew up studying classical music, both as a performer and composer. In 2002, Lane moved to South Australia to study Medicine. Lane is the writer and composer of The Front, an Australian musical theatre piece that premiered in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2015.
