A portion of the proceeds from the awards presentation ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel is donated to the Starlight Children's Fund.In 2013, Mar was honored as the "Mistress of Ceremonies" as she hosted the Center for the Pacific Asian Family's 35th Anniversary Gala, a charity event to raise money and recognize the organization's supporters. C.P.A.F. was founded to help address domestic violence and sexual assault in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Their mission is to build healthy and safe communities by addressing the root causes and the consequences of family violence and violence against women.Also in 2013, Mar served as an emcee as she led the 710 freeway initiative, "Close the Gap", in the city of Alhambra.Mar started her career in show business when she was just 4 years old. As a professional child actress, she booked national commercials, voice-over, print work, as well as acting roles, co-starring in episodes of hit television series such as "ER", "Wayans Brothers", "7th Heaven", and "The Parent 'Hood" for which she received a Young Artist Award nomination.Born and raised in Southern California, Mar attended the prestigious Troy High School, a math and science technology magnet school.
