Kya Stewart is an actor based in Sydney, Australia.She has appeared in a number of film and television roles. She is about to make her first International film appearance in the science-fiction thriller Risen, written and directed by Eddie Arya. She plays the role of Rachel Stermon, a biologist responsible for discovering life from other planets. You may also recognise her from Foxtel's Deadly Women and from her award winning role as Jade in The One.Kya has trained at a wide variety of Acting Institutions. She has studied at both Anthony Meindl's Actor Workshop in Sydney and at the renowned Andrew Wood acting studio in Los Angeles. She completed an acting course at the Aryavision Film School where she first met director Eddie Arya from which she was then cast in Risen. She has also trained with the likes of AACTA award winning actor, Luke Ford in the Meisner Technique and award winning actor, Anthony Brandon Wong in the Chubbuck technique.Kya also played the lead role of Susie in award winning short film Black Heart Red Hands directed by Russel Southam. She has received international recognition for her work and a number of awards including Best Actress at the European International Film Festival, Best Actress of the season at the Monkey Bread Tree Festival and Best Actress at the YLMAM Film Festival in Canada. She is also currently in pre-production for the short film, Cognitive. Kya plays the lead role of Abbie Sullivan in the psychological drama which is set to be released this year.Kya is a trained martial artist. She received her black belt in Go Kan Ryu karate after ten years of training. She continues to train at dojos all over Sydney and has represented the style at a state level in Australia. Kya is an avid writer and is currently working on her first one-woman stage play, Monster.
