Acting is not all about dressing up, the lights and cameras; it is about stripping bare. The whole point of learning lines is to forget them so you can make it look like you thought of them in an instant naturally, being genuine. It actually provides the fulfillment of never being fulfilled; you're never as good as you'd like to be, so there's always the hunger to constantly top yourself and continuously explore.
