Kevin Michael Barbaro was born Kevin Michael Winchell on March 16, 1970. His name was changed to Kevin Michael Hadsell when his mother, Dorothea, married Daniel Hadsell in 1972.He spent the majority of his childhood first in New York and then in Vermont. As a teenager, Kevin was a football, wrestling and track athlete during the school year and a baseball player in the summer. He attended three high schools in four years; after intentionally flunking the eighth grade, he attended a private, self-paced Vermont school and was able to catch up to his original class by fulfilling the requirements of eighth and ninth grade simultaneously. He graduated from South Burlington High School in 1988.Kevin attended the University of Vermont for physical education and ran varsity track and field for four years, specializing in the long sprints and multi-event competitions. He then moved to South Carolina, where he completed a degree in journalism and became the assistant track and field coach at Coastal Carolina University. He held that position from 1993 to 1997 and helped lead the program to a Top-20 ranking in the NCAA Division I cross-country polls. He was also the school's assistant sports information director and did radio play-by-play and color commentary for Coastal Carolina's baseball team.After moving to New York City in 1997, Kevin became the assistant cross-country and track coach at Columbia University, where he was also an associate professor of physical education. There, he helped lead the men's cross-country team to a Heps (Ivy League) runner-up finish. From 1998 to 2013, Kevin was the head coach for cross country and track at the University of Toledo, where he enjoyed incredible success and earned the respect of his peers nationwide. His skills as a motivator and recruiter reached all the way to Europe, Africa and elsewhere overseas. He was a five-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year and became the only coach in conference history to lead a women's cross-country team to three straight NCAA Division I Championship appearances. He coached five different women to Top-25 World rankings, including Briana Shook, the former American record holder in the 3000-meter steeplechase.While at Toledo, he also became the only coach in the nation to host his own live radio show. "Coffee Talk" became so popular in the track and field community that it spawned a music-based offshoot program, "Coffee Talk Too." In addition, he regularly served as a radio color commentator for Toledo men's and women's basketball games.In January, 2013, Kevin resigned after details of a relationship with a former athlete surfaced.One month later, wasting no time reassembling his life, he parlayed his twenty years of experience on the radio into a focused effort to launch a new career -- acting. He enjoyed almost immediate success, discovering a hidden love and versatile talent for the art. He joined Starbound Entertainment Group in Toledo (the same talent agency that discovered Katie Holmes) and attended the July, 2013 IMTA event in New York, where he was named Honorable Mention Male Actor of the Year.Kevin took the professional name Kevin Michael Barbaro to honor his grandfather, Michael Barbaro. By the end of 2015, his credentials were growing quickly and already included four co-producer's credits, four Off-Broadway stage performances, over 30 commercials and several TV appearances. In 2015, Barbaro played the protagonist in "Bar Chronicles," in which he co-starred with Todd Bridges. Barbaro also co-produced the film with Lyon Productions and director Brad Leo Lyon. Barbaro is also starring in a new family drama film, "Family Business" which is scheduled for release in late 2016.Barbaro is coached by legendary actor/director, Richard Kline (Three's Company, et al). He is one of the main characters in new TV series, "Long Island Lights". In addition, he is writing his first novel "Green Mountain Boys" to be out in 2016.
