popular Hong Kong TV host turned actor who was one of the most well-known bilingual actors in the 1980's. Kwan began as a host on Hong Kong's TVB Pearl English channel's lifestyle/entertainment programs. Due to his fluency in both English & Chinese, quick wit performance in "live" variety shows, Kwan became a novelty to Chinese audiences, allowing him to move from magazine shows to acting in TV dramas and films. Kwan's most popular years were from the mid 1980's to early 1990's. Before Kwan relocated to Vancouver, Canada, work in television and films became less frequent as he was recruited by newly formed Metro Radio Broadcast in launching FM-Select, the first bilingual-format adult-contemporary radio station modeled after US-style A.C. radio programming format. In 1995, news broke from Vancouver with Kwan's ill-health stemming from complications from A.I.D.S. Kwan's homosexuality was known within the HK entertainment industry but not disclosed to the public until he passed away in late 1995.Keith Kwan is best remembered as being one of the first Bilingual entertainment talent on Hong Kong television. His frequent on-screen partners include Deborah Moore and the late Lydia Shum. Show less «
