Katie was born and raised just outside of Gadsden, AL. She attended Hokes Bluff Schools where she graduated 3rd in her class from Hokes Bluff High School in 2003 with an Advanced Academic Diploma. During her middle and high school years she took part in county school system theatrical productions where she played the title character in "Charlotte's Web" her senior year. She attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL where she graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Metallurgical Engineering. During her tenure there she was one of the founding member of the "COE Does ART", a theatre troupe for College of Engineering students, after some fellow thespian classmates were denied the opportunity to audition for the theatrical productions because they were not theatre majors. Shortly after graduating from UA she married Robert Swann, a fellow engineering graduate, and they moved to Savannah, GA where she began taking part in the local theatre scene. Through some fellow actors, she learned about the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and she began to audition for student films. She and her husband then moved to Baton Rouge, LA in 2010 where she began pursuing her acting career professionally, earning her SAG eligibility. While in Louisiana she decided to turn her hobby for writing into a passion for screenwriting. In 2013, her team won "Best Use of Character" for the 48 Hour Film Fest short "Another Fine Mess For Schlecht" which she co-wrote with Katie Booms. Show less «
