Kamika Bianca Guerra-Walker is a Canadian director, producer, and actress. Kamika is half-Jamaican, half-Chilean, and was born in Calgary, Alberta. Her passion is to understand people and help people understand themselves - which led her into studies of psychology at University of Calgary. Kamika is the founder of her own mental health organization, blossoming from her experience with mental illness in her family - it is knows as, The Walker Foundation. It is set to stimulate the minds of society to integrate and embrace mental health into our daily lives.Over the past few years, Kamika has been able to accumulate many titles through her journey in the industry of film. She began working as a model who has been featured as the lead in ten music videos across Canada and published in the May 2021 issue of Moevir Paris Magazine. She then became intrigued to work behind the camera where she started to direct and shoot other models, which propelled her to open a film production company as a director with her business partner/DOP, Wyatt Sawyer. Kamika has since directed and executively produced 7 music videos for local artists based across Canada.Early 2021, Kamika was selected amongst 35 participants across Canada to be a participant of the "Being Black In Canada" program presented by Netflix and The Fabienne Colas Foundation. There she was able to write, direct, and produce her first short documentary titled "Finding My Way Back To You", it follows her as a young girl growing up mixed in Calgary and her journey of living with her father's diagnosis of Schizophrenia. The film is set to premiere across Canada during 2021-2022. This program propelled Kamika to continue to write and direct films based on her adverse life experiences."Home Is Where" was the first short film Kamika created in response to the homelessness situation in her city with cinematography by DOP, Wyatt Sawyer. The film was selected as a finalist at the Dubai Independent Film Festival and a semi-finalist in the Vienna Independent Film Festival for 2022. It was one of the first Doubled View Productions and was written, directed, shot, and edited in one day.Throughout 2021, Kamika worked as a stand-in, background performer, and photo doubled on three bigger budget productions which has acted as a blessing to her film set experience. She landed her first lead role in December 2021 for a pilot episode of a TV series. She continues to work as an ACTRA (AP) actress and seek opportunities amongst productions in Canada.This February 2022, Kamika was selected as one of the five projects leads from Calgary to be apart of the Telus Black Creators Edition grant. Her film "The Black Mustard Seeds" was awarded and funded by Telus, The Black Screen Office, and Storyhive. She continues to work on this film for the rest of 2022, as it is set to premiere in 2023.Kamika's ultimate dream is to continue to write, act, direct, film, and tell stories that will change and inspire lives of society.
