Kajai Priya was born In Kuala Lumpur to Deawaky Pillai and Murugayah. She lived with her grandmother from Kerala, India all her life and grew with a strong balance between tradition and modern. She completed her studies up to Form 5, where she finished in Grade 1, and topping the State in her O Levels Cambridge English Test.Kajai was always fascinated with the performing arts. Having been a recurrent performer in school plays and concerts, her interest in the entertainment industry further elevated her when she won the singing competition back in high school, 2 consecutive years. Finishing the year as the District Debater back in 1995.After her secondary education, Kajai moved from her hometown, Kuala Selangor to the capital City of Kuala Lumpur. She continued her tertiary education and had put her dreams on being on tele as a backseat.However, when she was 21, she imitated the sounds of animals, and that created curiosity in a friend who recommended her to audition for an upcoming movie.Hoping to score the audition, she was selected immediately without going through the audition process as the director was confident she could deliver. That started off her career as an actress through Berjaya Film Productions and she went on full force performing in movies, dramas and stage plays.She was also part of the cast of the Malaysia-India-Singapore collaboration movie. Zha, that saw her ac alongside popular Indian Stars namely Prithviraj. Raaghav etc.Her most notable role was winning the audition for her role as Roopa in BBC's Indian Summers.
