He performed next to Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro as "Rolando Cubela," in Steven Soderbergh's portrayal of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, "Che:Part One." Arvelo was the lead actor, embodying the early 20th century Puerto Rican poet, Luis Palés Matos, in the television film "Palés y la rumba de esquina."
