Joshua Louis Monkarsh (born December 21, 1978) is an American film producer. Monkarsh attended Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills California where he took advantage of the infamous stage production program. After graduation in 1997, Monkarsh attended the American University, where he studied International Business. Monkarsh also attended the New York film Academy at Universal Studios. Ironically, that same year - he was hired by 20th Century Fox as a courier.In the summer of 2002, Monkarsh created Traffic City Productions, making his feature film debut - writing, directing and producing the coming of age drama: "The Highlife": which was awarded a prestigious Remi Award at the 36th Annual Worldfest Houston. 2005's "Subway Cafe" was boasted by a spectacular performance portrayed by Rick Gonzalez (War of the Worlds, Illegal Tender, Old School).Monkarsh produced 2007's short: "The Devil Wears a Toupee" for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards - interactive competition. MTV Networks (us) added the film to their interactive programming schedule in early 2008. "Fighter Pilot" explores the life of nineteen-year-old Joseph Hirsch at New York University in 1941, who enlists after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. In October 2007, Fighter Pilot was distributed by the Independent Film Channel (IFC) (us) to air on their program: Media Lab.In 2008, Monkarsh wrote, directed and produced the sci-fi/romance: "The Evolution of Ethan Baskin" starring Jason London (Dazed and Confused, The Man in the Moon). Upon completion, Monkarsh received acceptance from the 62nd annual Cannes Film Festival. In 2010, Monkarsh acted as an executive producer on the Indie feature: "Cougars, Inc." starring James Belushi, Denise Richards, Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), and Kyle Gallner (A Nightmare on Elm Street).In the summer of 2011, Josh Monkarsh joined forces with Palm Star Media Capital, as co-producer of "Ian Fleming" based on Fleming's WWII experiences which ultimately inspired the creation of James Bond. Monkarsh is also co-producing "Lunar Park" based on the best-selling Bret Easton Ellis novel and "The Golden Suicides" based on the Vanity Fair article chronicling Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake.Drawing universal insight from the traditions of life, Monkarsh has established himself as a true innovator - producing films that explore narrative conventions while infusing the standard form with substance and depth.
