Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Joseph Gambel is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served a total of 16 years between Active and Reserve tours of duty. Possessing both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, his military and civilian career focus was in the aviation sector. Enlisting in the Marine Corps as a Helicopter Crew Chief, Door Gunner, and Mechanic he has had combat tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. His military career culminated at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Two serving as Assistant Material Maintenance Control Officer for Marine Helicopter Light Attack Squadron 773 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 42. He successfully segued into the civilian corporate sector in 2008, becoming an Aviation Insurance Underwriter and eventual Assistant Vice President for a Fortune 500 insurance company.
