Hailing from Wisconsin, John Pata is the owner of Head Trauma Productions. Through filmmaking, his goal is to create and produce genre-based films in the wonderful state he calls home.In 2012, Pata co-wrote/directed the Rondo-nominated, award-winning survival horror/post-apocalyptic love story Dead Weight. Described by Ain't It Cool News as "a true indie gem," Dead Weight received North American distribution from Kino Lorber in 2014. Later that year, his short film Pity, a tragically dark portrayal of one individual's inability to overcome the emotions of a recent breakup, exploded on the film festival scene. Screening in over 50 film festivals world-wide, Ain't It Cool News declared Pity "seven minutes of perfect filmmaking."Pata edited The Stylist (2016) directed by Jill "Sixx" Gevarigizian, which went on to screen at Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, Fright Fest UK, and dozens more high caliber genre festivals around the world. In 2017, Pata and Head Trauma Productions brought Gags the Green Bay clown to the big screen alongside Gags creator Adam Krause and The Line Film Company. The film is co-written by Krause and Pata, who will produce alongside Robert Patrick Stern and Sarah Sharp. The film is planned for a 2018 release.Without any formal film training or background, Pata embraces a very strong D.I.Y. ethic - which he gained growing up in the punk rock scene - in all he does, especially his filmmaking.Outside of filmmaking, Pata rides his bike too much, enjoys listening to punk rock records when reading comic books, always drinks iced tea, and never gets his fill of veggie burritos.
